I notice a shifting towards simplicity. I hope it's not wishful thinking on my part, but in so many varied elements of my life, even in the tech realm, I feel we have completely over-complicated our lives. Nationally and personally, all these *things* (physical and in thought) that we've been brainwashed into believing is the only path, have disappointed us. We are not better off. Maybe it's my pining for the GenX ways; maybe it's wishful thinking; but I have even seen glimpses of it from younger generations.... we need simplicity and grassroots. There's nothing "wrong" with that and may even lead to peace and... could it be(?)... happiness.
Stephanie, this is a powerful reflection and really resonates with me and I am sure many others. Quinn and I have one word we keep saying we want more of, “ease.” And, I believe simplicity is the means to the ease. Thank you for this.
Yes! Ease!! Sure, I like the “features” of some of our “advancements”, but, like my new washing machine that is already having problems… let me just have a basic washing machine!!! Sheesh!!!
Oh my gosh, I can't even tell you how loud I just laughed at this!! I bought one of those fancy washing machines that don't make the swish swish sound but a motor like whoosh whoosh sound and it broke, flooded our old home and didn't give me that cozy home feeling of hearing the washing machine agitate (the sound of a dishwasher on at night and the heater clicking on in the winter do the same). I told Quinn, "I am not made for these fancy washing machines, I want an old one, they were sturdy and lasted forever." AMEN, sister.
